Aboriginal Catholic Ministry
What is the ACM?
The Aboriginal Catholic Ministry is a non-profit organisation, of the Archdiocese of Perth founded in 1975 to meet the spiritual needs of Aboriginal people within the Perth metro and surrounding areas. We promote the spiritual, cultural and social development of people of Aboriginal descent
What inspires us?
Inspired by the words of JP II “And the Church herself in Australia will not be fully the Church that Jesus wants her to be until you have made your contribution to her life and until that contribution has been joyfully received by others.” When we work with community we bring the 7 Messages of ACM which are Reconciliation, Healing, Growing in Gospel Faith, Living God’s Mercy and Justice, Inculturation of Gospel and Culture and Our Community, Our Story and Leadership and Gifts.
What we do?
Home Visitation
We visit the Aboriginal Community in their homes to connect with them pastorally and spiritually, to support families to be strong and deadly. People can contact us for a visit or we take referrals.
Hospital Visitation
The ACM team visits Aboriginal patients at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital, Fremantle Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital as well as at Aboriginal Hostels and homes, and we are available to visit other patients in other hospitals upon request.
Sacramental Preparation
Sr Frances Wilson who has years of experience working with Aboriginal families and teaching students is able to work with any families who have members who wish to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion & Confirmation.
